"Strong cast leads revival of powerful drama." -Theaterlife.com

Theater 808 presented Helen Edmundson's The Clearing at 59E59 Theaters from October 6-23, 2016. Set against England's 1652 attempt to solve its "Irish Question" by conducting a ruthless campaign to rid Ireland of the Irish, this powerful play is, at one and the same time, both huge and intimate. Through the struggles in a marriage between a free-spirited Irish lass and an English squire, Edmundson brilliantly illuminates not only our history but our humanity. A truly provocative and relevant work, The Clearing examines our universal desire for acceptance complicated by our innate fear of "the other”. Directed by Pamela Moller Kareman, the Theater 808 revival included the following cast and production team:

THE CRUCIBLE

The Crucible

REVIEWS

"…such is the undeniable power of "The Crucible" and this production's fidelity to that power. The real star here is Miller's propulsive, unstinting exploration of human nature, and Ms. Kareman and her actors let it shine." -The New York Times

"...stellar performances and a brisk pace...The actors' chilling authenticity rips us back to a time when America was lousy with unchecked ignorance. It's a fierce and frustrating depiction: extreme enough to show us how far we've come, yet familiar enough to remind us how little we've changed." -Show Business Weekly

"Just got back from attending a just-stunning Off-Broadway (regional transfer from Croton Falls) production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" currently playing at The ArcLight Theatre...Absolutely extraordinary. A phenomenal piece all-around. Exceptional casting and I'm proud of this company stretching their legs in New York. Shows that devoted craft is everywhere (not just NYC). It's wonderful to see a "classic" being remounted off-Bway (where something-old is so often overshadowed by something-new)." -BroadwayWorld.com

"Arthur Miller's great play "The Crucible" still resonates powerfully after more than half a century, and The Schoolhouse Theater and Mare Nostrum Elements revival has done it justice under the direction of Pamela Moller Kareman. This is a strong production, vividly staged and vigorously acted by an overall impressive company, and although Miller's supercharged drama is based on the Salem witchcraft trials of 1692, can there be any doubt that a connection can still be made whenever hysteria takes hold and claims new victims?" -William Wolf/Wolf Entertainment Guide

NORA

Nora

REVIEWS

"Strikingly staged production under the expert hand of director Pamela Moller Kareman" -The News-Times

"...intelligent production" -The New York Times

More startlingly relevant today than it was over a century ago, Nora is Bergmanesque in its simplicity and clarity. An uncompromising depiction of a marriage and a young woman's journey to self realization is truly compelling and provocative theater. A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen was published in December 1879 in Copenhagen. Audiences were scandalized at Ibsen's refusal to write a socially acceptable ending. Some consider A Doll's House to be the first Modern play with it's psychologically penetrating characterizations and daring social themes. In 1981, Ingmar Bergman adapted Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, August Strindberg's Miss Julie, and adapted his own film Scenes from a Marriage for a two-night production in Munich called A Project for the Theatre. A Doll's House was renamed after its protagonist, "Nora." The play deals with the marriage of Torvald and Nora Helmer. In order to save her husband from dying, Nora takes a drastic measure that must be kept secret to protect their future. The secret's revelation sets into motion a series of events that questions the validity of their marriage, and Nora awakens to a sense of self-awareness for the first time in her life. In one of the most famous (and scandalous) climaxes in nineteenth century theater, Nora makes a choice that continues to be debated by audiences to this day.

In the Spring of 2006, Theater 808 presented the Manhattan premiere of Nora, legendary film director Ingmar Bergman's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's classic play, A Doll's House. Directed by Pamela Moller Kareman, the cast and production team were as follows:
